The artist, living in North Carolina, selected the Liberty location to coordinate with the North Carolina Flags of Our Nation Stamp. Liberty is a historical town, known for its large oak tree in the town center.

The artwork was done on 90# cold pressed watercolor paper, each hand drawn and colored with transparent tube watercolors. Lettering was done with a fine tip permanent marking pen. The artwork was scanned and imported into a PowerPoint document formatted to the envelope size.

Liberty, NC
Reputed as the most historical small town in North Carolina, Liberty Oak, as it was originally known, grew up around a big oak tree on a plantation built by John Leak in 1809. John was Liberty's first official resident. During the Revolutionary war, soldiers camped out in what was then Liberty Oak. The large oak tree in the center of the camp was used as a make shift town square, meeting place, and ultimately a place to hang war time criminals.

In 1889, the small town was incorporated as Liberty, NC. Liberty is also home to The Liberty Antiques Festival, a world famous antiques show.
